FAMILY, FRIENDS, & FUN WILL COLLIDE
The sport of bowling has come a long way since things started rolling along
here at Town and Country Lanes. The lanes were built in 1960. Don LeBold,
the owner, began working as a house promoter. Shortly after
he met Ann in 1964 and they were married in 1966. In 1967
Don & Ann LeBold bought the bowling business and
have been heavily involved with our
youth and our community ever since.
Don and Ann have always felt compelled towards encouraging
good citizenship in our youth of today. In 1995, the couple
implemented a new program called the
"Turn Around Achievement Awards".
Town and Country Lanes works
closely with the Salem/Keizer School District as the host
and benefactor for this annual event. This event honors students,
who have been picked by their peers and councilors,
for their effort, perseverance, and commitment toward
change in their lives. These young people are over-comers and the
potential cornerstones of tomorrow's community.
An additional contribution that Town and Country Lanes makes
as an investment in our community's youth is the college
scholarship monies that our bowlers raise for the Grand
Prix College Scholarship Program which is run through
the BPAA. Our bowling house raises some of the most scholarship
money in the state of Oregon, thanks to the generosity of our
bowlers and their private donations. We have over $85,000
to give to graduating high school bowlers
who are participating in the program.
Town and Country Lanes has provided the public and private
schools with their Physical Education Bowling Program.
Don LeBold still makes the rounds to each school himself to
deliver and pick up our portable bowling lanes. Recently, we
have added several additional sports programs to the PE line-up:
KinderBowl and the YMCA After School Program. Our sports
goal is to continue to introduce bowling to the kids, so
that they will continue to enjoy the sport with their
